The model offered is a 2009 SL 63 AMG Phase 2. Delivered in beautiful black metallic, it benefits from the performance pack including a limited slip differential, bigger brake discs, an improved suspension, a smaller and flatter steering wheel at the base, as well as the removal of the 250km/h speed limit. This pack, priced at €11,400 new, corrects the lack of sportiness of the standard model, thanks in particular to the appearance of the self-locking differential.
In addition, the model offers a host of options, such as a panoramic glass roof, power, heated and ventilated "semi-bucket" seats with memory, neck heating, front and rear radars, and a carbon center console.
The French car has 55000 kilometers, has always been maintained by Mercedes and has been serviced in March 2021, including a gearbox change. The vehicle is in very good condition inside and out and has nothing to be expected.
Since the release of the legendary 300 SL in 1954, many SLs have followed, sometimes deviating from their original name (Sport Leicht). In 2002, the SL 55 AMG gave a taste of the renewed sportiness of the model.
But it is in 2008, with the appearance of the SL 63 AMG that the R230 model will benefit from the most consequent changes. The most notable change is the total redesign of the front end, with the peanut-shaped headlights replaced by a much more aggressive bumper.
On the engine side, the SL 63 is equipped with an engine that is widely used in almost the entire AMG range, the 6.2-liter V8. The naturally-aspirated "big cube" uses advanced technology from the racing world to produce 525 horsepower and a maximum torque of 630 nm. Its high torque at low revs, combined with a remarkable extension up to 7200 rpm, make this engine an example of flexibility and performance, with an inimitable throaty sound.
Capable of propelling you from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds, the almost two-ton coupe-cabriolet still inherits remarkable agility, thanks to numerous chassis improvements. Versatile, overpowering and aptly redesigned, the SL 63 Phase 2 is a car with a strong character, offering a brutal and engaging driving experience similar to that of a muscle car.
In addition, the SL 63 is the first AMG model to receive the Speedshift MCT (Multi Clutch Technology) transmission. Capable of handling a truckload of torque and a speed of 7,200 rpm, this multi-clutch system without a converter allows the V8 to express itself fully. Four different modes are available, allowing the gearbox to be modulated efficiently according to the circumstances. The manual mode (the most efficient) allows a shift time of 100 milliseconds, 50% better than the comfort mode.
