The 2019 Alpina B5 Bi-Turbo Touring, based on the BMW 5 Series (G30), is a high-performance family car unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This third-generation B5 succeeds the F10 version and is distinguished by its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Modified by Alpina, this engine produces 608 hp and 800 Nm of torque, enabling the B5 Touring to reach 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 325 km/h.
The Alpina B5 uses specific components to enhance its performance, such as Mahle pistons, Garrett twin-scroll turbos and a lightened exhaust system. It is equipped with a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, reinforced to cope with the high torque. The xDrive system, which sends up to 90% of torque to the rear wheels, and the M550i's four-wheel steering are recalibrated for improved driving dynamics.
