Singularity of the car

The car offered is a 1956 Austin-Healey 100 M BN2 "Le Mans". Delivered in a superb original Healey Ice Blue color with a blue interior and Dunlop wheels with Knock-off nuts, the car has benefited from a "Le Mans" conversion kit with a remarkable assembly quality. A certificate of authenticity and a plate attest to the conformity of the kit. To qualify for this designation, many conditions must be met. From a mechanical point of view, the BN2 Le Mans must have H6 SU carburetors, a special intake manifold and a cold air box. Aesthetically, the "Le Mans" are equipped with a windscreen and a ventilated hood with straps.

To enhance the car's performance, reliability and driving experience, the owner equipped the roadster with front disc brakes, long-range iodine headlights, a high-capacity crankcase, a hi-torque starter, a dual Mallory igniter, two 12-volt batteries, a modern alternator and a Denis Welch aluminum cylinder head. The model also features a tonneau cover, a Moto-Lita steering wheel and a racing exhaust system with a throaty, melodious sound.

Matching Numbers, the example originating from the United States has benefited in 2018 from an expert report attesting to its perfect mechanical, interior and exterior condition. Thus, the paint is impeccable, the soft top is recent and its engine compartment is remarkably clean. In addition, the car's road handling is extremely sound.

The model has 15500 kilometers of which 10000 kilometers since the engine refurbishment and has additional safety equipment such as a circuit breaker and an anti-theft key. A great opportunity to own one of the most atypical and sought after English roadsters in a clinical condition.

Historical summary of the model

Pioneer of the "Big Healey", the Austin Healey 100 is the result of the commercial union of Donald Healey and Leonard Lord, then head of the Austin company. Produced since 1953, its name referred to the top speed of 100 miles per hour targeted by its designers. As early as 1953, Austin-Healey 100s were entered in endurance races to increase the credibility and exposure of the BN1 model. One year later, the gamble paid off and the Austin-Healey 100s won the 12 hours of Sebring. A prestigious victory which will earn them the name Austin-Healey 100S.

In the middle of 1955, the BN2 model will succeed the BN1 with a new 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive on 3rd and 4th gear, an increased rigidity of the rear axle, as well as an oversized wheel arches and the appearance of a two-tone color.

At the same time, a more radical version named 100M is proposed. Thought to evoke the 100 S race cars, it was equipped with a stiffened chassis, bigger carburetors and a reworked airbox. If these versions could leave the factory like this, Austin BN1 and BN2 owners also had the possibility to fit themselves or to have a "Le Mans" kit fitted on their car. This kit allowed the 4 cylinder 2660 cm3 to gain about 10 horses to develop 100 to 110 horses for the BN2.
