Bentley Continental GT Mulliner 2009 – 112 000 KM

The Bentley Continental GT is one of those models that stands out from the crowd. The first Bentley to be produced in the ^21st century under the Volkswagen umbrella, the Continental GT inaugurates a new type of model with very different ambitions. Owned by Rolls Royce, the Bentley brand was bought by Volkswagen in 1998, at the same time as Rolls Royce. A twist of fate prevented Volkswagen from keeping Rolls Royce, which was then bought by BMW. Nevertheless, Bentley remains with the German brand. Volkswagen's aim was to surpass Rolls Royce and keep Bentley under its wing. The Continental T and Azure continued to be sold for some time, while a new project was secretly launched. Inspired by the Java concept car developed a few years earlier, the Bentley Continental GT was officially presented in concept form at the Paris Motor Show in autumn 2002, then as a production car at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003.  

The Bentley Continental GT is a model that radically changes the image of the British manufacturer. It boasts dynamism, comfort and luxury, 4 seats, a large boot, the temperament of a GT, and aims to compete with a certain 911 Turbo or DB7. Last but not least, a major change has been made in terms of price, making it more affordable than previous models. The design is inspired by the R Type Continental of 1952, as can be seen from the rear wing and long hood. The Continental GT is recognizable by its streamlined appearance and four round headlamps at the front, framing a large rectangular grille. It is powered by a huge 6.0L W12 engine developing 560 hp and 650 Nm of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h time is 4.8 seconds, despite a substantial weight of 2.3 tons, and the top speed is 318 km/h.  

The model underwent numerous evolutions, with more radical Speed and Supersport versions, as well as GTC and GTC Speed cabriolet versions from 2006. In 2009, the Continental GT was given its ultimate incarnation, the Mulliner. With its roots in the ^19th century, following the creation of H.J Mulliner & Co by Robert Bouverie Mulliner, this version offers a hand-finish worthy of the finest craftsmen. The Continental GT features 20-inch alloy sports wheels, drilled alloy sports pedals and footrest, chrome gearshift, two-tone leather and veneer combinations, quilted leather on doors and rear quarter panels, embroidered Bentley logo seats, numerous dark-stained burr walnut accents and more.
