Our Corvette Z06 was delivered new in France and put on the road on December 11, 2008. It has had 7 owners since its first run, including the current one on June 15, 2022.
This model is in excellent overall condition. Its Black Metallic configuration, combined with gray wheels, red brake calipers, black and red leather interior and interior carbon pack, is superb and flawless.
Mechanically, it runs flawlessly. This Corvette Z06 is equipped with a new engine, replaced after the previous one malfunctioned. Its 512 hp 7L V8 engine, combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox, easily delivers all its power, with the characteristic Muscles Cars rumble. Note that the valve guides are replaced as a precaution to ensure perfect operation. Maintenance is carried out by the brand's specialists, and numerous invoices are available for consultation. The last service was carried out in April 2023.
In the 1950s, Harley J. Earl, vice-president of design at General Motors, saw a trend emerging in the automotive world. Increasingly well-attended races and the presence of British roadsters such as the Jaguar XK 120 and Austins on American roads were clear signs of a growing attraction to sportiness. With this in mind, Harley J. Earl envisaged the creation of a low-cost roadster, the Corvette C1. It was equipped with a 115 hp in-line 6-cylinder engine, to which 3 carburetors were added for 152 hp. The C1 Corvette struggled to convince, due to its low power output. This was corrected with subsequent vintages, equipped with a Small Block V8. This decision saved the Corvette, which went on to produce the C2 version in 1962.
The C3 and C4 generations were rather popular, despite difficulties with anti-pollution standards, limiting the C4's power to just 240 hp. The Corvette C5 corrected the situation, bringing the American model closer to European standards. General Motors continued in this vein, developing a 6th generation. The C6 Corvette broke away from the traditional body-built lines, featuring incisive lines. The rear end features real round lights, and a dynamically designed air intake is positioned on the sides to cool the engine. The C6's design makes it the most aerodynamic of its line, with a Cx of 0.28. The interior remains in keeping with tradition, but boasts a much-improved quality of finish and presentation.
Engine-wise, the C6 Corvette boasts the most powerful V8 ever fitted to a production Corvette. The 405 hp are truly impressive. But General Motors was thinking bigger for its C6 Corvette, and unveiled a radical version, the Z06.
The Z06's bodywork features new air intakes, notably on the snout. Additional air intakes are also added in front of the rear wheel arches. The front bumper is optimized and more aggressive, transforming the performance of this new version. The C6's engine, then the most powerful, is quickly surpassed by the Z06 version, equipped with a 512 hp 7.0L V8. From 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 320 km/h. The Z06 leaves no room for doubt: it's the worthy heritage of American muscle cars.
