Our Ford Mustang Coupé 289 Ci, with 30,709 miles on the odometer, was put on the road on January 1, 1967 in the United States before being imported into France in 2019. Its current owner acquired it the same year.
This model is presented in an elegant black hue, with a black interior in good original condition. Although the bodywork has a few minor paint defects, the whole retains all the authentic charm of this American icon. Aesthetic modifications include added white stripes, a "Shelby GT500" badge and modified tire and wheel sizes.
Under the hood, this Mustang is equipped with the 210 hp 289 Ci V8 engine, combined with the manual gearbox, rare for this model and much sought-after by enthusiasts. The mechanics are in good condition, having been overhauled in 2024, with the latest overhaul invoice available. The consumables are in good condition, and no costs are to be expected.
In 1960, with the baby-boom generation on the way, Ford's General Manager Lee Lacocca realized that his model range was not very attractive to this new clientele. In 1962, he produced a concept car in 3 months, a mid-engine Mustang. Lee Lacocca developed his Mustang further, and officially presented it in 1963. Priced at just $2,368, the car was snapped up in droves as soon as it hit the dealerships.
The first 1964 ½ Mustang was equipped with a 2.8L in-line 6-cylinder engine and the option of a 260 ci V8 or a 289 ci, which later became the norm. Offering 200 hp in its coupe version and equipped with the 289 ci V8, the Mustang offers style, sportiness and comfort for a laughable price. A real success from the outset, and still as popular many years later, it left its mark on the automotive industry, in stark contrast to the Cadillacs and other imposing cars of the time.
