Originally from Italy, this Peugeot 304 coupé was put on the road in January 1972. After being purchased by a first Italian owner, it passed into the hands of a Monegasque owner, then a French owner from early 2022. It is therefore a 3rd hand. With its Aston Martin-inspired Dark Green bodywork and black interior with grey carpets, this 304 coupé has an elegant configuration. The car's aesthetics are in perfect condition.
The bodywork is flawless and has benefited from a complete polishing, also carried out on the stainless steel components. The interior is also in excellent condition, with new upholstery and original carpets. The on-board instrumentation is in perfect working order.

The Peugeot 304, introduced in 1969, is the latest in a long line of vehicles produced by the famous French marque Peugeot. While the sedan version of the 304 was already remarkable for its modern design and road performance, the coupé, introduced in 1970, added an extra touch of elegance and sportiness.
The story of the 304 coupé began in 1969, at the Paris Motor Show. It was presented as a sportier, more aesthetically refined variant of the 304 sedan. Designed by Peugeot's styling department in collaboration with Pininfarina, a famous Italian coachbuilder, the 304 coupé is distinguished by its flowing lines, elongated hood and distinctive roofline, characteristic of coupe design at the time.
Under the hood, the 1972 Peugeot 304 coupé Série 1 borrowed its engine from the saloon. It was a 1288 cm³ in-line four-cylinder petrol engine. It delivered 80 hp, enabling the coupé to reach a top speed of around 165 km/h. The 304 coupé was equipped with a four-speed manual gearbox, with front-wheel drive, a configuration typical of Peugeot vehicles of the period.
In terms of suspension, the 304 coupé was fitted with MacPherson-type independent front suspension, and a rigid axle with coil springs at the rear. Disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear ensured adequate stopping power for the vehicle.
The interior, though sober, was designed to offer a satisfactory level of comfort. The seats were upholstered in quality fabric, and the dashboard, though simple, provided all the information the driver needed.
Over the years, the 304 coupé has undergone several evolutions, both mechanically and aesthetically. However, the 1 Series remains emblematic for its initial design and market positioning. It was perceived as an affordable alternative to the more expensive sports coupes of the time.
