This Triumph TR3 A was released in 1959 a few months after it left the factory. Originally from the United States, it was imported to France and purchased by its current owner in June 2009. From 2010 to 2015, it has been completely restored to its original glory.
Of red color "signal red", it is then in a very good state, its elements presenting defects being all replaced and its painting redone. A document tracing the entire restoration is available. Slight minor defects are present in the paint.
With 92,000 miles on the clock, this Triumph TR3 A has a tonneau cover, a side screen and a luggage rack on the rear boot. Its 100 hp inline 4-cylinder engine runs perfectly and offers the sound and feel of an English roadster. An appraisal report from 2022 and the original import certificate as well as the purchase invoices of the vehicle are available.
At the beginning of 1952, the first Triumph of the TR range was born. This TR1, an approximate prototype of the roadster, laid the foundations for the success of the TR2, which was widely acclaimed by American enthusiasts.
The small British roadster will quickly evolve towards a third model in 1955 with the TR3, which turns out to be a reworked TR2. In 1957, during the numerous changes made to the TR3, the TR3A appeared, to the delight of the American market. This TR3A saw its grille, its headlights position, its rear lights and its bumpers modified. On the mechanical side, a simple modification of the cylinder head brings 5 additional hp to the TR3A.
The "wide mouth", so called by the Americans, will be a real success as never before for the brand. It will even be produced again a few months after its stop being much more popular than the TR4 that succeeded it.
With its collector status confirmed, the Triumph TR3A, a great success of its time, is now a much sought-after car and still appreciated by discerning collectors.
