With a line recognizable among thousands, a symphonic V12 and an assertive character, the DB9 is far from being the simple replacement of the DB7. It marks a turning point in the history of the Gaydon-based brand.
In 2003, Henrik Fisker completes the development of the future DB9, with a platform and a new body, composed of aluminum and composite materials. In spite of this attention, the DB9 in its automatic Touchtronic version has an empty weight of 1800kg. This does not prevent it from offering convincing performances, going from 0 to 100 in 5.10 seconds and reaching 300km/h.
Initially intended to offer a more "affordable" alternative to the Vanquish, the DB9 will end up unintentionally competing with the latter, as it displayed a proposal at least as attractive, for a more contained price. In 2004, the DB9 has in its sights the Porsche 911, Maserati Coupe and Ferrari 612. Probably not the most luxurious, the fastest or the most performing, the real asset of this car is the inimitable driving experience it offers, through the bewitching sound of its V12 but especially through its line.
