Originally from the United States, this 1955 Mercedes 190 SL was imported to the Netherlands in 2012 before being purchased the same year by its current owner. The latter has provided it with mechanical maintenance justified by a set of invoices. Its last service was in October 2021.
The Hellblau color combines with its gleaming chrome and gorgeous vintage white sidewall wheels to create a beautiful combination. The alignment of its openings is correct, its bumpers are well positioned and its joints are in good condition.
Designed according to the Mercedes standards of the time, its chassis shows no trace of corrosion. The only thing to note is a slight seepage at the gearbox and axle.
A healthy structure that testifies to perfect storage conditions during its history.
Its 1.9-liter inline four-cylinder engine and smooth-shifting gearbox exude health.
In strict compliance with its original configuration, the interior displays a beautiful patina. The cracked wood steering wheel, the old leather upholstery and the dashboard with its chrome trim have retained all their period charm. The instrumentation is complete and functional.
Although it has aged a bit, this remarkably sound and reliable car, both structurally and mechanically, is a perfect basis for a restoration project. Its luxurious equipment as well as the comfort of its chassis and the pleasure of its engine make it a very pleasant collector's car to use on a daily basis and, why not, to go away for the weekend!

Taking the prodigious lines of its big sister, the 190 SL is a great success and will mark the birth of a long line of roadsters within the brand with the star. Today, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful Mercedes ever produced.
