Historical summary of the model

The Porsche 911 S 2.4L, from the E series of the legendary 911, was produced between 1972 and 1973. Equipped with a 2.4-liter (actually 2,341 cc) flat-six engine, it developed 190 hp thanks to Bosch mechanical fuel injection, enabling it to reach a top speed of 230 km/h. This generation marks a technical turning point, notably with the five-speed 915 transmission, inspired by the Porsche 908 racing model, which simplifies the clutch compared with earlier versions.

The E series also introduced a controversial new feature: an oil tank located behind the passenger door, which led to frequent errors when filling up. Quickly corrected in the following series, this design has remained a unique feature of this generation.

Featuring a redesigned suspension and improved stability with a small front spoiler, the 911 S 2.4L excels on the racetrack. In its "ST" version, it wins prestigious races such as the 6 Hours of Daytona and the Targa Florio. This model embodies the transition to more powerful and refined versions of the 911, while maintaining the spirit and design that have made Porsche famous since its beginnings.
