The proposed model is a 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS delivered in a sublime Rosso Corsa color with a black interior. This version escaped the introduction of indirect injection and preserves its 255 horsepower. Moreover, the "S" in GTS stands for Spider, so the 308 GTS has a removable roof system in the "Targa" spirit, allowing its occupants to enjoy the sound and inimitable sensations of the berlinette.
It has a breathtaking design, marked by a typical 70's front end with retractable lights, a wide grille and a short nose sloping towards the ground, ready to swallow the asphalt. It also has a taut body line highlighted by a black border running around the body. Its stern is reminiscent of the 288 GTO and the BB 512, with the mythical four round lights and the flat open hood. To complete this sensual and sporty line, 14'' Cromodora wheels used on the 365 GTB4 are affixed to it.
Equipped with a 5-speed H-transmission and a limited slip differential, the 308 offers a GT-like driving experience that is nonetheless engaging and true to its sporty roots.
Followed by the Ferrari network since its introduction, the matching numbers model has 75,000 kilometers and has been scrupulously maintained and serviced. The car is in impeccable mechanical and aesthetic condition.
Presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1975, the 308 GTB replaces the 308 GT4, which failed to convince in the segment of "entry-level" Ferraris, replacing the legendary Dino 246 GT.
Largely inspired by the 512 BB, the 308 GTB is intended to be a "mass-market" sedan and manages to seduce a whole generation, becoming an icon of the small screen in its GTS version alongside Tom Selleck in the Magnum series, helping to make it one of the best-selling Ferraris (23,000 copies).
Based on a shortened version of the 308 GT4 chassis, it also features the 255 horsepower V8. Its bodywork, designed by Leonardo Fioravanti at the Pinifarina design studio, was initially made almost entirely of polyester, a lighter and easier material to work with. When the GTS arrived in 1977, the polyester was finally replaced by steel for reasons of rigidity, weighing the 308 150 kilos.
