The only Ferrari model designed by Bertone, the famous car body designer, the Ferrari Dino 208 GT4 is a car apart for its rarity. First driven in 1975, the model presented here is in exceptional condition for its age. Equipped with a V8 engine of 160 hp, a 5-speed manual gearbox and 4 seats, the Dino 208 GT4 combines sportiness and comfort.
Very low mileage for its age with only 42,986km, its bodywork and mechanics have been completely overhauled to allow this model to regain all its former glory. The Rosso Corsa bodywork has been completely overhauled, the engine, gearbox, brakes, cooling system, filters and gaskets have been completely overhauled offering a totally healthy mechanic. All the invoices of the revision are available. The interior is in a very good condition and is finished in a Nero color with red stitching of the most beautiful effect:
The only change to be made on this Dino 208 GT4 could concern its tires which are old despite their good condition.
In 1965, Enzo Ferrari decides to register the brand Dino. Following the death of his son Alfredo, the brand was created to pay tribute to him but also to build a new kind of road car, equipped with V6 engines. The project had been carried for a long time by his son Alfredo, an engineer at Ferrari a few years earlier, but Enzo Ferrari did not want to market Ferraris with a V6 engine, which he described as not worthy of being part of a Ferrari.
The new brand under the name Dino allows to create sports cars with V6 engines without impacting the image of the prancing horse brand. The first Dino will be born in 1967 under the name of Dino 206 GT. It will receive a V6 in the rear center position to compete with the famous 911. 2 years later will be unveiled the 246 GT, designed by Pininfarina and true masterpiece of design. Always developed with a V6, these 2 models will be followed by a V8, a first for Ferrari. The 308 GT4, with its radically different curves due to its design by Bertone, creates a real break.
A 2+2 model intended to complete the range, the 308 GT4 suffers from the particularly heavy taxation in Italy for cars with engines over 2 liters. In order to solve this problem, Ferrari develops the 208 GT4 with a lowered displacement, allowing to bypass the Italian taxation. Less powerful due to this reduction, it still allows to develop 170 hp and to reach 220 km/h in top speed.
