This Porsche 356 C, launched on May 15, 1965, is a timeless icon of classic motoring. Imported from the USA in 1992, it has a long history dating back to the 1980s. Currently in the hands of its owner of 17 years, a classic car specialist, it has been passionately cared for and driven 35,000 miles. Currently, its odometer shows 4,500 miles, uncertified. As the odometer is in 5 digits, we deduce a higher mileage.
This model is presented in its original color, an elegant Slate Grey, with a new paint finish. The interior is trimmed in superb red leather. Although the original headliner shows a few signs of fatigue, the whole remains in very good condition.
Under the hood, this 356 C is equipped with a 75 hp engine, combined with a mechanical gearbox. Its mechanics are in perfect condition, having been made reliable by its owner, with the heating system deliberately disconnected to avoid any possible problems. The car was last serviced in May 2024, including engine maintenance, gearbox oil change and fluid replacement. Minor defects are limited to two slight paint imperfections (3 mm each) near the front grilles, but the bodywork as a whole is in perfect condition. Invoices and part of the vehicle's history are available, as are several technical inspections, attesting to the care taken with this vehicle.

The Porsche 356 C, the last evolution of the 356 series, was produced between 1964 and 1965. This model marked the end of an era for Porsche, which simultaneously launched the 911, its emblematic successor. The 356 C introduces four-wheel disc brakes, a significant advance on the drum brakes of previous versions. It also offers the most powerful rocker arm engine in the range, the 1600 SC, delivering 95 hp.
The 356, Porsche's first production car, was launched in 1948 in Gmünd, Austria, with an aluminum body. In 1950, production moved to Zuffenhausen, Germany, where models received steel bodies. Designed by Erwin Komenda, the 356 retained an instantly recognizable silhouette throughout its evolution, from the "pre-A" to the A, B and finally C versions.
With more than 76,000 examples produced in total, the 356 became a symbol of lightness and handling, appreciated as much for the road as for racing. Despite its role as a transitional model, the 356 C remains highly prized by collectors. Its last examples, built in 1966 for the Dutch police, concluded an automotive adventure that had begun almost two decades earlier.
