Singularity of the car

  • Carte grise collection
  • Numerous recent invoices
  • Numerous new features
  • Very good condition

Our Porsche 911 3.0 SC Coupé was launched on April 14, 1981 in France. It was acquired by its current owner in March 2020.

This example is in very good, near-excellent overall condition. In Silver Grey Metallic, combined with black fuchs wheels, blue Carrera side stripes and black leather interior, our 911 3.0 SC Coupé is extremely well preserved. Slight modifications to the bodywork, wheels and driver's seat will ensure that the car is in impeccable condition.

Its mechanical performance is beyond reproach. Its 204 hp, 3.0 L flat-6 engine, combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox, still delivers astonishing sensations. At just 1160 kg, the 911 SC boasts a good power-to-weight ratio for excellent performance. Invoices for the last 4 years are available from Mougins Auto Sport and Maffi Mechanics.

Here are the options and equipment available for our 911 3.0 SC Coupé :

Historical summary of the model

Since its appearance at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Porsche 911 has been a true success story. Its first generation, although complex to drive due to its architecture, impressed with its performance and build quality. In 1976, Porsche launched a new model, the 924. Equipped with a front engine, the 924 was quickly followed by the 928 two years later. The front-engine V8 architecture, in total opposition to the 911 philosophy, was well received by customers. These new models were the brainchild of Ernst Fuhrmann, then head of Porsche, to break away from the 911 monoculture.

Ernst Fuhrmann, rather reluctant to extend production of the 911, considered replacing it with the 928 and V8 front-engine models. This decision comes at the same time as a decline in 911 sales and a series of global changes, including rising oil prices and growing public concern about ecology and safety. The 911 being the brand's flagship model, Ernst Fuhrmann's decision was not at all appreciated by customers. Financial losses, particularly in 1980, were to prove the brand's undoing. His replacement by Peter Schutz was soon decided.

Two years earlier, in 1978, Porsche unveiled what should have been the last 911, the 911 SC. A fusion of the 2.7 and the Carrera 3.0, this 911 SC developed only 180 hp, a drop in power that was a first for the 911. It retained the 2.7's wide fenders, chrome headlamps, steering wheel and 3.0 gearbox. This version was quickly upgraded in 1979, with optional chrome, the Turbo's 3-spoke steering wheel and 8 additional horsepower. Finally, the 911 SC received a second upgrade in 1981, with power increased to 204 hp. More popular than the 928, the 911 SC is a sign that the 911 is not a model of the past. To relaunch the brand, Peter Schutz called on Ferry Porsche. The two men developed the 911 Cabriolet, which would definitively put the 911 back in its rightful place.
