Singularity of the car

This Porsche 928 S4 was launched in 1991. With 164,800 km on the odometer, it is powered by a 5.0L V8 engine developing 320 hp. Presented in very good overall condition, with a black body that benefited from a coat of paint in the early 2000s, and a perfectly maintained black leather and fabric interior, it is a perfect representation of the Porsche know-how and quality of the 90s.

Owned by its current owner since 2006, it has a complete and clear history with supporting invoices dating back to 2002. Meticulously maintained for over 20 years, it is equipped with recent expenses, ensuring that it runs perfectly right from the start: 4 new tires, geometry checked, technical inspection validated, belt changed, new battery and recent oil change.

Its 320 hp V8 roars like new, allowing you to experience the superb sensations of this '90s GT. It also comes with a sunroof and tinted glass option.

Historical summary of the model

At the dawn of the 1970s, Porsche wanted to break away from its image as a single-model brand. And despite the resounding success of the 911, some of the managers at Zuffenhausen tried to push the emblematic coupe towards the exit. Indeed, the layout of its backpack flat-six was considered outdated and without a future. A statement that seems comical in retrospect, but which was the subject of fierce debate at the time.

This desire to diversify led to the development of new bodies and engines, giving rise to the PMA (Porsche front-engine) models such as the 944 and 928, the latter embodying Porsche's desire to position a car in the GT 2+2 sports car market. It began its development phase in 1971 and went into production 6 years later, in 1977. Equipped with a front-mounted 4.5-liter V8, its avant-garde design is the antithesis of that of the 911. And like all PMAs, it didn't go down too well with Porsche enthusiasts, who regarded the new architecture as sacrilegious. But no matter, this was not the car's core target market. Largely aimed at the American public, its V8 and automatic gearbox quickly made it popular across the Atlantic.

Surprisingly, the 928 enjoyed a longevity of 18 years, with a succession of increasingly powerful and accomplished versions. In 1986, the Porsche 928 was redesigned and marketed as the S4, an upgraded version of the S2 with a 320 hp 5.0 L V8 engine. The front and rear fascias were redesigned to improve aerodynamics, and a rear spoiler was added to improve downforce at high speeds.
